Welcome to Letran, Prado Museum.
An initiative of the Intramuros Administration (IA), in partnership with the Colegio, El Museo del Prado en Filipinas, an exhibit showing the paintings of renowned artists, makes a stopover at Letran.
High definition printed copies of select masterpieces from Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid were made available to Letranites, and to the Walled City inhabitants, just in front of the Colegio’s façade until December 16.
“Each image that you will see, every painting, has a message. They were carefully selected for the appreciation of all Filipinos,” said IA Administrator Atty. Guiller Asido during the official opening ceremony held at the Salon de Actos last December 4.
Letran’s rector and president, Rev. Fr. Clarence Marquez, OP, who had a firsthand experience with the wonders of Prado Museum, said, “Beauty should always be welcome. Beauty is part of evangelization, part of the good news.”
The Museo del Prado pop-up exhibit was launched in May. It was displayed in front of the Manila Cathedral until July 31 this year. It features the works of Francisco de Goya, Mariani Fortuny, Bartolome Murillo, Joaquin Sorolla, Eduardo Rosales, Federico de Madrazo, and even our very own Juan Luna, among others.
