To showcase the interdisciplinary collaborative research projects by faculty members and students from different colleges and universities in the Philippines, the Letran Research Center held its 1st National Conference on Interdisciplinary Research and 6th Likhang Arriba: The Letran Research Colloquia Series with the theme “Interdisciplinary Collaborative Research: Breaking Barriers and Connecting People” last February 22 to 23.
Dr. Custer Deocaris, the Chief for Research Management Division of the Commission on Higher Education, gave the Keynote Speech while Dr. Ofelia Saniel, the Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Research of the University of the Philippines Manila; Dr. Alvin Caparanga, the Dean of the School of Chemical, Biological and Materials Engineering and Sciences of Mapua University; and Dr. Sherlyne Almonte-Acosta of SEAMEO-INNOTECH gave plenary lectures.
Parallel sessions on Business and Management, Psychology, Science and Technology, Education and Social Sciences, and Political Science were held on the afternoon of February 22 and the entire day of February 23 in Del Pilar Hall, Balagtas Hall, and Music Room. The best presenters in each session were also awarded by the Research Center representatives.
The official partners for this Conference, namely HAL-ADFM Marketing, Electronic Information Solution, Inc., Libtech Source Philippines, and Upgraded Photocopy and General Merchandise, also set up booths near the conference area and was warmly welcomed by the participants.
This event was attended by students and faculty members from University of the Philippines-Diliman, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Philippine Women’s University, Technological Institute of the Philippines - Quezon City, Wesleyan University, Manila Science High School, Letran - Calamba, Letran -Bataan, Letran-Manila, Manila Central University, and Metropolitan Medical Center.
