The Colegio gave recognition to its alumni who have been exemplary in their respective fields during the ‘Grandes Figuras’ awards night held at the Blessed Antonio Varona Ortega, OP Gymnasium last August 30.

The whole affair was organized by the Office of Alumni and Public Affairs, in coordination with the Letran Alumni Association (LAA), headed by its president, Rosalie Cruz.

This year, aside from awarding the second batch of the ‘400 Great Men and Women of Letran’ or Grandes Figuras, Letran also recognized the ‘Grandes Amigas y Amigos de Letran’ (Friends of Letran) and the ‘Grandes Familias de Letran’, prominent Letranite families who have shown their support to their Alma Mater throughout the years.

The Grandes Figuras’ goal is to award 400 outstanding sons and daughters of Letran, a hundred per year, until the Grand Quadricentennial Celebration in 2020.

ABS CBN’s Laurenti Dyogi, who also is part of Letran’s Board of Trustees, was one of the notable individuals who received the Grandes Figuras award.

Jo-Ann Ching of Ecco Food Corporation was given the Grandes Amigas yAmigos de Letran award for contributing to the Quadricentennial Fund, specifically for the coffee table book project.

Seven families received the Grandes Familias award, namely, the Aligada family, the Peralta famly, Casas family, Syquia family, Reyes family, Mendoza family, and Vinas family.

Sen. Vicente Sotto III, the current Senate President of the Philippines, was given special recognition by the LAA for the years he spent doing public service.
