Alumni-produced short film “The Swindler” has made it as an official selection in the 3rd Alberione Media Awards Online Film Festival.
The Saint Paul Bible Ministry launched the online film fest in celebration of the 50th World Social Communications Sunday last May 8.
“Swindler” tells the story of an old swindler who teaches a young boy how to swindle by lying and pretending to be a disabled sampaguita vendor in the park. It was inspired by Exodus 20: 16, the Ninth Commandment, which says: “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.”
In February, “Swindler” was named a finalist in the Local Category of the 2016 Singkuwento International Film Festival.
It was created by Communication alumni Jai Liwanag, director; Niccolo Lopez, Asst. Director; Lawrence Guantero and Camille Alfaro, writers; Carlo Abayon, production manager; and Juan Domingo de Castro, cameraman.
The Alberione Awards is dedicated to searching for the best short films and music videos that best communicate the Catholic faith. It was named after Blessed James Alberione of the Society of Saint Paul.
Last March 2015, Letran gained several Alberione awards, bannered by the Best Short Film, “Tahan Na”.
