Effort and dedication, at some point, will duly be recognized.
Prof. Ma. Victoria Rosas, PhD, DBE, CMC, FRIEcon, RBE experienced just that when she received the Leadership Award from the Philippine Council of Deans and Educators in Business (PCDEB) last May 23.
The recognition was presented to her during the 15th PCDEB Annual Convention, her final event as the outgoing president of the Council.
"I did not expect it," she shared. "I was just there for the turnover [of the presidency to the incoming head, Dean Ferdinand Rodriguez] but then they gave me the award."
She said that it was an honor since the Leadership Award is not automatically given to the PCDEB president, in fact, no one has been given the Award the past three years.
"I am happy and fulfilled," she said.
While it is not in her character to broadcast all her efforts, Dr. Rosas, as evidenced by the trust and appreciation given to her by her peers - co-business educators, deans, and directors alike, felt grateful that there are those who noticed the hard work that she exerted in that one whole year she was president.
In that period, Dr. Rosas was able to cover all three pillars of an academic institution: research, instruction, and community involvement. She organized research colloquia and handled research presentations; strengthened the organizations linkages, both locally and internationally; and increased the membership of PCDEB - from being concentrated only on Metro Manila to expanding to Visayas and Mindanao.
"I really felt fulfilled. I felt that I was able to provide what was needed by the organization, despite my hectic schedule in Letran," she said.
Dr. Rosas, aside from currently teaching Economics, Management, and Research (and Advanced Research for the Graduate School), handled positions in the Colegio throughout her over twenty years of service to Letran. She was once the Dean of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy, as well as the Registrar.
She also is an Agora Awardee (conferred by the Philippine Marketing Association), and a Regional Finalist of Metrobank Foundation's 2015 Search for Outstanding Teachers.
Just last April, Dr. Rosas became a Registered Business Educator, an honor granted by the Junior Achievement of the Philippines, Incorporated, a member of JA Worldwide. It is given to faculty that have had significant contributions to the Business Administration program.
"It is such an honor, not only for me, but also for Letran," Dr. Rosas said.
