Students from the Institute of Communication (ICOMM) recently conducted an educational excursion to University of Santo Tomas as part of their continuing exposure to professional media environments and production practices.
Participated in by students from BA Communication Arts and BA Broadcasting program taking production classes, the activity aimed to provide hands-on academic facility exposure and benchmarking of institutional media production workflows. The visit allowed our students to observe operational studio layouts, equipment configuration, and management systems used in professional and academic media settings.
The delegation was guided by Mr. Philippe Hernandez, who toured the students through the university’s Radio Studio, Television Studio, and Music Recording Studio. During the visit, Letranites examined broadcast signal flow organization, studio lighting grid configuration, camera blocking arrangements, and recording setups used for audio production and post-production workflows.
A question-and-answer session followed the tour, where Letranites engaged with academic representatives from UST to discuss studio scheduling systems, operational workflows, and best practices in media education.
Among the key observations from the excursion was the emphasis on functional and cost-efficient studio design, demonstrating how educational institutions can maintain effective training environments without excessive investment.
The visit further highlighted the importance of collaborative learning environments, including student lounge and support spaces that encourage creative exchange among media students.
The Institute of Communication extends its sincere appreciation to the University of Santo Tomas and its academic representatives for accommodating the visit and for sharing valuable insights that enriched the students’ learning experience.
