Intramuros, Manila – Colegio de San Juan de Letran further strengthened its commitment to innovative and future-ready education through the official signing of a Memorandum of Agreement with First Eduspec Inc. on July 18, 2026, paving the way for the integration of robotics, coding, and Internet of Things (IoT) education into the Integrated Basic Education curriculum.

The partnership will introduce STEAM Robotics and Coding (SRC) for Grades 1 to 6 and STEAM Circuits and IoT (SCI) for Grades 7 to 10, providing Pages and Junior Squires with immersive, hands-on learning experiences that develop creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills while preparing them for an increasingly technology-driven future.

Representing the Colegio during the signing ceremony were Rev. Fr. Raymund Fernando P. Jose, O.P., Rector and President; Prof. Danilo K. Villena, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs; Ms. Donna Serrano, Integrated Basic Education Principal; and Mr. Psalm John Mico Manalo, Faculty, Elementary and Junior High School Department. First Eduspec Inc. was represented by Mr. Willard C. Paras, General Manager, together with Mr. Aldrin Sta. Ana.

In his message, Prof. Villena, Ph. D., mentioned that the partnership comes at an opportune time, as young learners must now be equipped with robotics education at an early stage. He emphasized that Letran continues to invest in learning development by embracing innovation and sustainability in its academic programs, ensuring that our students are prepared for the evolving demands of education and industry.

For his part, Mr. Paras asserted First Eduspec's commitment to the partnership by providing quality service, reliable technical support, and continuous faculty training. He noted that empowering educators is essential to the successful integration of robotics and technology into classroom instruction, enabling students to maximize the program's learning opportunities.

Meanwhile, Rev. Fr. Jose, O.P., emphasized that while the partnership will help develop technologically and scientifically oriented learners, Letran remains equally committed to forming socially responsible Letranites. He expressed hope that students will learn to use technology responsibly and ethically, recognizing that technological competence must always be guided by values. Ultimately, he said, the initiative will contribute to the holistic and academic advancement of every young Letranite.

Under the three-year agreement, First Eduspec will provide a comprehensive robotics and IoT curriculum, robotics kits, laboratory equipment, teacher professional development, technical support, and assistance in establishing a dedicated STEAM Makerspace Laboratory. The collaboration also includes educator training to strengthen instructional delivery and ensure the effective integration of robotics and computational thinking across grade levels.

The collaboration proves Letran's continuing commitment to delivering innovative, industry-relevant education and equipping its students with future-ready skills through experiential and technology-enabled learning.
